About

In 2006 OurFutureIsToday.com was registered.  Since then considerable time has been spent working out what to do with it.  It is a great ‘campaign slogan’ and as that is the case we had t-shirts and caps made, but the design was not to our satisfaction. So if you have the skills and care to share, please do let us know 😉

While developing the concept of the web site the statement our future is today has started to become part of the developing vernacular which is encouraging.

It is important for us to start to consider ourselves to be part of a ‘community’ again rather than continuing with the ‘me! me! me!’ attitudes of the last however many years.  The importance of taking the protection of this global community of ours seriously has been brought to the fore yet again with alarming and tragic, human, animal and community losses thanks to the likes of:

  • BP’s catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf;
  • Uncontrollable bush fires ripping through Victoria, Australia;
  • Continued recovery in New Orleans, USA – post Katrina;
  • The GFC as it continues to threaten lives and livelihoods;
  • The tragic results of the Tsunami/Earthquake of Japan and radioactive waste;
  • and many more events –  too many.

So, let’s get informed, share knowledge, and support and encourage others who are choosing to take action or make a difference in their community (small or large).

In my view:

Ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds

  • Racism,
  • Sexism,
  • Intolerance,
  • Poor decision-making,
  • many other ‘isms’; and
  • horrible consequences!

So, with this in mind the primary purpose of this blog is to share information, to make that information powerful by giving it a voice, and then based on confirmation of it; ACTION it!

Between us and those who read this, we know people, we are able to research, present findings and develop strategies to continue successful social progress and actually do real things to help.

Let’s do something with this information!  (see the ‘Action!!’ page for real things that you can do)

Thank you for your support and contributions

🙂
